Verholy Guest Houses by Studio YOD Design Lab
Reflecting its serene pine forest surroundings, Studio YOD Design Lab‘s guest house designs for Relax Park Verholy in Ukraine are a thoroughly modern take on the traditional log cabin retreat. Situated in Ukraine’s Poltova region, about equidistant from the Black Sea and Russia, the complex is composed of guest houses constructed from a lightweight metal frame on a screw base, allowing for minimal environmental disturbance and quick assembly and disassembly. This philosophy of minimal disturbance is reflected quite literally in the glass exterior, which mirrors the pine forest to seemingly blend into the surrounding nature. This is complemented by heat-treated alder wood on the side walls to prevent insect habitation and to harden and preserve the wood. A stepped terrace of sepia-hued larch leads up to the clear glass facade of the structure, providing a glimpse into the interior of veneered oak and larch. Individually designed pieces of furniture and abstract artwork decorate the space, which is lit by energy-saving diode lamps. Enjoy the photos above of this thoughtful exercise in ecological architecture.
