CULTURE AND ART PLATFORM
innovatory SHOWCASES.
Creativity an act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. Creativity characterised by the ability to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions. Creativity involves two processes: thinking, then producing. If you have ideas, but don't act on them, you are imaginative but not creative.
New Whitney Museum’s First Show
All (or some) of this newness is good, but it’s useful to remember — and the museum does remind us — that the Whitney started small and off the commercial grid and was created by an artist for other artists. The creator was Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney (1875-1942), a sculptor and collector who had money, social status and a rebel’s appetite for American work that went against the cultural grain of her day.
Art Basel Hong Kong 2015
Back for the third year, Art Basel Hong Kong returned bigger and grander, following close behind its peers in Switzerland and the U.S. Taking place from March 15 to 17, the fair again took to Hong Kong’s Convention and Exhibition Center, a landmark which only months ago held camp for Occupy Central protesters.
A truly international affair, 233 galleries from 27 countries took part, with a lineup that gained sales and attendance from the likes of Jenny Holzer, Tracy Emin, Keith Haring, Yayoi Kusama, Takshi Murakami, Anselm Kiefer and Ryan Gander. Exhibits from local and mainland artists such as Lui, Chun-Kwong, Wang Luyan and XuZhen also provided examples of China’s creative energy.

“Untitled" will feature thick impasto portraits of international figures, including Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin, Nelson Mandela, Adolf Hitler, and Osama Bin Laden.
