JR "A Survey Exhibition"

The Hong Kong Contemporary Art Foundation (HOCA) is holding an exhibition of JR, an elusive and internationally acclaimed artist who uses the street as his canvas. At age 17, JR came across a camera on the Paris subway and his creative experimentation began, taking photos of locals and pasting them around the city. His artistic expression continued to grow and he went on to produce works on the security fence between Palestine and Israel, celebrating heroic women in disparate communities, among many others. He won the TED prize in 2011 and notes “Art has never changed the world, but it can change your vision – and that, for me, is already changing things.” The exhibition will run from March 15 to April 12 highlighting his most iconic projects across photography, film, video and installation.
